Getting Windows 10 on a Dell inspiron 15 7000 without problems can be challenge.
I was full confidence that the engineers and programmers at Dell and Microsoft had thoroughly constructed and tested this new Windows release, so without any hesitation I hit upgrade. Everything went great, until the installation finished and said “Get ready”. So full of excitement I got ready and waited for the magical things that were about to happen, and then BAM, a blue screen. I just gazed at it, like I couldn’t believe that this was really happening. The screen stated: “Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. Blah blah blah…… INTERNAL-POWER-ERROR”.

So I searched the internet and found more people having this problem. It was caused by de AMD video driver. Each day I see more blogs and video’s explaining what the error is and how to fix it, but my solution still isn’t out there, so I would like to share my solution with you guys.

I luckily have a dual boot with Ubuntu, so I could switch and try some things. But after about 2 hours, I was done for that day and reverted back to Windows 8.1 (Yes, it is there after you upgrade, it is not overwritten 🙂 ).

If at this point, you also reverted back to Windows 8.1 and afraid to upgrade again, this is wat you have to do:
1. Go to the dell site and download the drivers for the AMD Radeon R7 M270 (Link)
2. Install the driver under windows 8.1
3. Check in the device manager if the card has the correct driver

Windows%2010
4. Start the upgrade to Windows 10

Windows 8.1 thinks that the AMD Radeon card, should have the driver for the ADM Radeon R7 M265 type. When you upgrade, Windows 10 leaves this driver in place, but can’t handle it. So if you first update your video driver to AMD Radeon R7 M270 (the correct type), then Windows 10 won’t have a problem.
